Eliminatory (max. 20 min)
  • One Prelude and Fugue by J.S.Bach
  • One fast movement from a classical sonat (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven)
  • One romantic piece of the participant’s choice
 

Semi-final (max. 45min)

  • Recital Program that includes one classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven – participant’s can repeat the one played in the first round) and one piece from the XX or XXI century

MAIN RULES

By signing up for the Contest, and for as long as such entry remains, each contestant acknowledges and explicitly accepts the Rules of the Contest, always in its latest version, available on this page and in the other sections of this website.

Each contestant undertakes to comply with the guidelines and conditions of the referred Rules, and to periodically consult them, to stay informed about possible changes. 

  • The competition is open to participants of all nationalities;
  • Main category comprises participants up to 32 years old;
  • The age of the participant is considered on the 31st of December 2023;
  • All the participants must submit a video recording until the 5th of April 2024 (see the topic Pre-Selection Round);
  • Participants that received lessons from a member of the Jury in the last three years can’t take part in the competition. In the event of any irregularity, the participant won’t be allowed to participate in the competition;
  • First prize winners from previous editions are not eligible to enter the same category in which they won their prize;
  • The participants going to the semi-final will be offered a prize money of 300 euros;
  • The semi-finalists will participate in a shared recital, in different locations around the city, for which they will receive 200 euros;
  • The organization/scheduling of the Recitals concerning the prizes are responsibility of the institutions that offer the prize;
  • Registration in the competition presupposes acceptance of all the points mentioned in these regulations.
  •  The participants must submit together with the application formulary a youtube link (only one – multiple links won’t be accepted) with the video recording;
  • The recording comprises the following repertoire:
    • One Etude by Chopin or Liszt or Rachmaninoff;
    • One movement from a classical sonata (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven);
    • Work of the participant’s own choice with a maximum of 6 minutes;
  • The recording shouldn’t be edited: only one stopped camera, where one can see both hands of the pianist.
  • The application should be done online on the website: scecilia-competition.com;
  • Together with the online form the following documents will be required to attach:
    • Recent photo;
    • Curriculum Vitae – maximum 2 500 characters;
    • Payment Receipt – attach scan of the check or bank transfer receipt;
    • Youtube link with video recording;
  • Application’s deadline/Pre-selection round: 5th of April 2024;
  • The results of the pre-selection round will be published until the 6th of May 2024;
  • The candidates that go through this stage can change their repertoire for the competition until the 11th of May 2024;
  • The competition fee should be paid together with the application. The fees for the main category are: 70 euros for the Pre-Selection Round + 120 euros for the candidates that will continue the competition;
  • For the candidates going through the pre-selection round, they have until 11th May 2024 to complete the payment of the remaining 120 euros;
  • The payment can be done through:
    • Bank Transfer to IBAN PT50 0010 0000 5121 7990 0016 5, BIC BBPIPTPL / Banco BPI – Balcão Foz – Praça do Império (the name, instrument and category of the participant must figure on description);

  • Fees will not be returned in case of non-attendance;
  • In carrying enrolment, competitors are authorizing the use of their image through photography or filming, for the purposes of institutional publicity;
  • Application will not be accepted in containing incomplete or false data;
  • Applications will only be validated when all documents are received.
  • All the participants must be present on the 21st June 2024 for a meeting where the performances order will be drawn. In case of missing that meeting, the participant won’t be allowed to participate in the competition;
  • At the meeting on the 21st June 2024, the participants will receive an individual practice and warm-up time-table;
  • Competition will accept a maximum of 30 participants for the eliminatory, from which 12 will go to the semi-final, and 3 to the final round with orchestra;
  • The repertoire should be played by memory;
  • The final round will be accompanied by orchestra.

All matters not covered in this regulation will be submitted to consideration by the Organizing Committee of this competition in charge of its analysis and solution.
