Klara Dolynay

Klara Tyborivna Dolynay (Pankovych) was born in Ukraine. She began her piano studies at the age of six at the Mukachevo School of Music and Arts.

BIOGRAPHY

At the age of fourteen Klara Dolynay was accepted at the music university in Uzhgorod, where she finished her major piano studies in 1986 with distinction. During this period she participated in several national and international competitions.

In 1992 she completed her Master’s Degree at the Ivan Franco State University of Pedagogy (city of Drogobych).

Klara Dolynay started working as a piano teacher in 1986.

In 2000 she came to Portugal, having finished her Master in Music in 2010 at the University of Aveiro.

She has dedicated her career to pedagogy and since 2001 has been teaching at the São Teotónio Music School, in Coimbra. She has already published several works published in the pedagogy field, such as: «Musical education of children, importance of traditional music» (1991), «First steps» (1993), «The study of scales on the piano. A learning method» (2009), and the article «B. L. Javorskiy ́s Theory of Bach Interpretation» in the Piano Journal of the European Piano Teachers Association (2012).

During her activity as a teacher in Portugal, Klara Dolynay has had students who have won in several national and international competitions, in a total of 336 awards (of which 164 were in international competitions).

She was invited several times to teach Masterclasses and take part of jury panels of piano competitions.

Klara Dolynay is the director of the São Teotónio School of Music International Piano Competition.
