BIOGRAPHY

A prominent figure in the Italian piano world, Riccardo Risaliti has for many years carried out continuous work as a performer, teacher, scholar of interpretation and piano history, critic, and musical organizer.
Born in Tuscany, he completed his studies at the Florence Conservatory under Paolo Rio Nardi (a pupil of Ernesto Consolo and Ferruccio Busoni) and Luigi Dallapiccola. His training continued in the courses of distinguished teachers such as Nikita Magaloff, Carlo Zecchi, and Sergio Lorenzi.
His wide-ranging musical career began within the same Florentine Conservatory, at the Teatro Comunale of Florence – where he made his debut with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino – and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He began his concert career after winning several international prizes (including the “Viotti” Competition in Vercelli and the “Pozzoli” Competition in Seregno, among others). He has performed in numerous European venues (La Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Regio in Parma, the Brescia and Bergamo Festival, Victoria Hall in Geneva, etc.), undertaking tours with a highly varied and distinctive repertoire, including chamber music performances alongside distinguished instrumentalists, singers, and ensembles.
He has also premiered works by contemporary composers and has recorded both solo and chamber music.

His passion for the piano has led him to explore in depth its history, literature, and performance practice. Active as a music critic and journalist, and a contributor to newspapers and music journals, he has also prepared editions of piano music for Ricordi, Curci, and Carisch.

He has held a professorship first at the Conservatory of Pesaro, and then for three decades at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan. Since its foundation, he has also been a faculty member of the International Piano Academy of Imola. He has given interpretation courses and seminars, among others at the Sommerakademie of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Festival delle Nazioni in Città di Castello (Perugia), Villa Ca’ Zenobio in Treviso, and in many Italian conservatories.
Numerous students from his school, often winners of major competitions, have gone on to establish successful performing and teaching careers.

He is frequently invited to serve on the juries of international piano competitions and on examination boards at European music universities.
He has also been artistic director of several international competitions and organizer of concert seasons.
