The pianist Lei Meng was born in 1991 in Harbin in China and received her first musical training at the China Conservatory in Beijing and later at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Prof. Klaus Kaufmann and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris with Prof. Michel Béroff.
BIOGRAPHY
In the winter semester 2024/25, she was appointed to the professorship for piano and piano didactics at the University Mozarteum Salzburg, where she has also been teaching at the International Summer Academy since 2024.
Lei Meng has received numerous national prizes in her home country. In 2011, she was a prizewinner at the international Bang & Olufsen PianoRAMA Competition in Aarhus in Denmark and in 2016 at the renowned Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition in Porto, Portugal. Concert invitations have taken her to many European countries, the USA, China and Brazil.
She has repeatedly performed as a soloist with various orchestras and gives concerts with different chamber music ensembles. This year, two new albums with works by Beethoven, Schubert and Schumann, will be released on the Coviello Classics label.
